Lelu Town Government Holds Historic Swearing-In Ceremony

Lelu, Kosrae — April 10, 2026 In a momentous occasion for community governance, more than 80 board members representing diverse associations and committees were officially sworn in at the Lelu Town Hall. The ceremony, held at 3:00 p.m., marked a new chapter of collaboration and commitment for the people of Lelu.

The event brought together board members from the Lelu Women Association, Lelu Youth Council, Lelu Farmers Cooperative Association, Lelu Fishing Cooperative Association, Lelu Infrastructure Project Implementation Committee, Lelu Water Committee, Lelu Custom and Tradition Association, Lelu Park & Recreation, Lelu Resource Management Committee, Lelu Election Commission, Lelu PTA Board, and Sansrik PTA Board.

 

Ceremonial Highlights

  • Associate Justice Rensley Sigrah administered the oath of office, affirming the dedication of each member to serve with integrity.

  • Rev. Takeo Likiaksa led the Prayer of Blessings, invoking guidance and unity for the boards.

  • Mayor Atchuo Welly extended a warm welcome, emphasizing the importance of collective leadership.

  • Council Member Quartus Esau delivered a brief remark, challenging all members “for a lasting commitment and to do their best but to always remember not to overstep our laws, our custom and tradition, and most importantly our spiritual belief.​

 

This ceremony underscores Lelu’s dedication to inclusive leadership, ensuring that voices from women, youth, farmers, fishers, educators, and cultural custodians are represented in shaping the town’s future
